Instant, Youth, Design, Thinking, Noodles – our first challenge

Saturplay 16th April. A big thank you to all who participated in day one of the Instant Noodle Challenge. It was fun and we learned some great things during the process.

Day one. After we got to know each other and share our skills and passions, I spent 30 minutes explaining the reason for the challenge. We explored the Design Thinking process and real world examples of how young people elsewhere were using DT to effect change in their communities and in their own lives.

Observe, ask, listen and research

We interviewed and observed. We mostly used social media to connect with people.
Participants all had their own social networks to access. I supplied 3 Android smartphones with WIFI and 2 laptop. We used Twitter, Skype, Chat and Facebook posts and FB Questions.

After gathering all the information we went on a walk and had a break for lunch.

We put all the feedback on to post it notes and the organised them into categories.

Insights today brought us to 2 main user experiences and two questions to focus our brainstorming session next week.

Our catalytic questions

1. How might we produce a healthy instant noodle experience that soothes and assists people who have the flu get better?

2. How can we create a super healthy, environmentally responsible, tasty instant noodle with options for interchangeable flavours, designed for people who care deeply about health and sustainability?

Day one Instant Noodle Challenge

Stay tuned. Next Friday 22nd April we will brainstorm our brand. We’ll design packaging, create and test some flavours and then we’ll rapid prototype to show you what we came up with.
